Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota Club Sports
The mission of the Club Sports Program is to develop students through competition, instruction, financial responsibility, and general administration of Club Sports. Our goal is to create a safe and fun environment that encourages:
- Positive Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota experiences.
- Character development through athlete commitment and excellence.
- Physical, social, and leadership development.
- Cultivation of friendships.
- Recreational and competitive opportunities regardless of skill level.
- Lifetime appreciation for sport and physical activity.
- Memories that last a lifetime.
The key to the success of any sport club and the Club Sports Program overall is the interest, active involvement, and dedicated leadership of the students who participate. Club Sports are created by students for students!
Each club receives a small annual allocation from the Saint Mary’s University Student Senate to help offset the expenses of the club. This funds only a portion of the legitimate expenses for the club leaving the remainder of expenses for uniforms, equipment, travel, etc. to be subsidized through membership dues, team fundraisers and generous donations from others.

Soccer
The mission of the club is not only to unite members of the Saint Mary’s University community through the medium of soccer, but to allow Saint Mary’s students to interact with and spread their love of soccer to younger members of the community by volunteering at Riverway or Maplewood events with the help of our advisor Joseph Tadie. With his assistance, the club is not only allowed to practice during the week and play games against other Minnesota-based soccer clubs, but to take an hour or two out of our busy student lives to give back to the greater Winona community.
